One possible and notable influence on the formation of our system is autism. Autism can be a very stressful condition to grow up with, especially if you are born in 1994 before the deprecation of the term "Asperger's syndrome" and had to be in special ed in the 2000s.

While it's difficult for us to say how much of our adverse experiences with autism are traumatic per se, they are definitely stressful, and since stress can be a cause of a system, we feel that the stress from being autistic would have influenced the development of our system.

Another explanation for autism's role in our system was that, when we were learning how to mask and supposedly succeeding, we weren't really masking. We split a headmate who did not act "as autistic" as the other parts of the system did, and they therefore had the masker role.

If you feel that our system is endogenic but not exclusively spirigenic, it is reasonable that the non-traumatic factors of our special interests, our detachment from external reality due to autism, our alterhumanity and alienation from humanity due to autism, and the stress of the experiences we had growing up may have been the cause of our system.

If you feel that our system is fully traumagenic, however, it is possible that the stress of masking and being mistreated for being autistic by those around us was, in fact, traumatic and is partly the cause of the system.

However, BPD later in life is also important to the formation of the system. Being in a brain that is prone to identity disturbances means it is very hard for us to think of ourselves as just one person. This is likely why the system can never stay dormant forever and why it is so complex - we have so many sides to ourselves that our brain with BPD cannot see as just one person.

The Cherry Dreams sidesystem is additionally based on Venn's identity disturbances based on his interests and aesthetics, and while "BPDdawn" is a term that exists for specifically sidesystems or subsystems caused by BPD, we also use "genic" terms for sidesystems and subsystems.

DPD also most likely contributes to why we return to a state of systemhood and why we have so many headmates and so much complexity. A person with DPD has a hard time taking care of themself, so headmates with DPD need headmates without DPD to take care of them.
