Outer Voidelia

Outer Voidelia, also known as Beethoven's Firmament, is a territory of the Voidelian Federation that came into existence on June 28, 2026. This occurred one week after the only part that fully identified with the body's life fragmented into a subsystem and ceased to exist in the system as himself, which itself happened six days after our breakup with our partner system of three years, which was our longest relationship yet.

The breakup with our partner system was the most dramatic single event that had occurred in the outerworld since the time of the Unification. Before the time of the Unification, we had had a complex, completely internal world that had multiple ongoing but partly interconnected narratives that were based on media we loved as a child, including things like The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion King, and Egyptian mythology. After the Unification, we still have that innerworld, but it is known to external parts of the system and is no longer working completely behind the scenes. This means our system is now fully aware of internal events when they happen.

The breakup with our partner system was significant also because it was a queerplatonic relationship rather than a romantic one, but there was a period of time where it seemed a lot more like a romantic relationship than a regular close friendship (the latter of which being what most of my QPRs resemble).

The breakup also came as a result of me seeking romantic partnership that wasn't in-system or from a fictional character. Our ex, who was supposedly okay with us seeking a romantic partner at the time of the breakup, had issues with jealousy and had difficulty understanding what we would get out of a romantic relationship that we didn't get with them; they had a difficult time understanding that romantic attraction and even gender existed, and that an alloace gay man will not feel the same way about an aromantic unaligned non-binary person the same way he feels about an alloromantic man or masc-aligned person.

While the relationship had deescalated since the time that my partner and I were messaging each other all day every day and I was responsible for their every emotional need, the loss of the relationship was still significant, as well as the catalyst for fully appreciating that the way our ex had treated us during a period of time during the relationship was starkly similar to how our abusive adoptive father had treated us for a while and had been training our system to let him treat us.

It is believed that, were it not for the breakup, the last "original" would have fragmented into a subsystem regardless, and that we would have discovered something in the system that exists outside of superclusters, but it is unknown how much of what Outer Voidelia became would exist without that event, nor whether it would have the same relationship to Inner Voidelia that it does now. Because this restructure came with dividing Voidelia into an inner and outer part, the latter of which is considered above or over the former, this event is known as the Stratification.

Inner Voidelia is the name given to West, East, and Central Voidelia. Everything in Inner Voidelia is on the Voidelian planet. This includes most of the headmates who were considered hidden prior to the Unification.

Outer Voidelia, meanwhile, is considered to inhabit the atmosphere of the planet, thus effectively being the sky. It also includes a research station on the moon. Headmates in Outer Voidelia appear as the stars in the night sky from the Voidelian planet. There appears to be a pocket dimension within the sky of Voidelia, which is the physical space that the Outer Voidelian headmates live in. For all intents, however, they are considered equivalent to the sky and celestial objects, and Inner Voidelia is considered equivalent to the planet.

This is notable because, in Egyptian mythology, the sky and earth are a pair of lovers (Nut and Geb) who were once physically connected to each other, but they had to be separated in order for the universe to have space to exist. This is why the sky and the earth are separate, according to the myths. If Outer Voidelia contains the old originals, Inner Voidelia generally contains introjects of the characters and musicians the old originals were attracted to, and Outer and Inner Voidelia are considered collectively partners.

Additionally, in The Lion King, the lions believe that the stars are the great kings of the past, and while we interpret the movie's messaging about kingship as really being about learning adulthood and maturity, some of it is also applicable to our system if you interpret kings as hosts or cores. All of the headmates in Outer Voidelia are considered former hosts, cores, or "originals", or are directly split off from such a part.

The Stratification, as an in-space event, is also eerily similar to the Rapture that many Christians believe in, in which someday in the future, all Christians will be taken from the Earth and sent to Heaven without dying, and everyone else will be left behind. Many of the headmates in Outer Voidelia used to be part of Inner Voidelia, but they were taken off the planet and now reside in the Heavens.

Outer Voidelia contains three structures that are considered to correspond to the three cores. Blue's is called Paw Nebula, Bryan's is called Axe Nebula, and Blixa's is called Synth Nebula. Generally speaking, the nebulas contain old versions of their respective cores. Some of these versions are fictives of characters that the core would become with their imagination and use to explore the innerworld; these are called Imagination Station parts, or part of an Imagination Station subsystem, after a device from a radio show we listened to as a child.

In addition to containing old hosts from the past, Outer Voidelia is also considered to house any structure that is not considered to be part of the superclusters at all.

When Garden of Knowledge - a sidesystem themed around the Garden of Eden and Noah's Ark with talking animal headmates - showed up in early 2026, it was considered a part of West Voidelia, due to the connection of one of its headmates to the identity of Blue, after whom Blue's Supercluster (another name for West Voidelia) is named. However, upon the Stratification, it became a part of Outer Voidelia, seemingly triggered by our realization that the event had been very similar to the Rapture. Hellfire City was shortly moved to Outer Voidelia due to being a Hell equivalent that contains a Bryan part.

Currently, our innerworld explorers are looking to see if there are any other regions within Outer Voidelia, but Outer Voidelia is very difficult to explore, because other than the three Nebulas, this is the least Unified part of the system we currently know of, meaning it has the most amnesia and is understood the most poorly.

It is believed there may be areas based on the Greek Underworld, Purgatory, Antarctica, nuclear waste warning architecture, and/or the Void, but this is unknown as of currently.

Outer Voidelia uses Beethoven as a collective name. This is partly because we were listening to "Ode To Joy" when the Stratification occurred, and Outer Voidelia considers itself collectively kin with the piece of music, but partly because, like Ludwig van Beethoven, we are a musician who developed a disability (Beethoven's was his loss of hearing, ours was our agoraphobia) that normally would have stopped our career but that didn't.

While Inner Voidelia does not have a collective name yet, it is considered the partner of Outer Voidelia, and half the system is effectively in a relationship with the other half. This is perhaps the most complete representation of being auto-spec and plural simultaneously.

Because of how Outer Voidelia appears from Inner Voidelia - that is, as the sky and the stars - they are also known as Beethoven's Firmament (as they are outside of the supercluster system). They are collectively otherkin with stars and use star/stars/starself in addition to any other pronouns listed for them.
