Where it comes to how we label ourselves, we use genderqueer as a gender, but also as a term akin to "cis" or "trans". Therefore, when using a label that more specifically describes a gender, we tend to default to agender.
Agender is a self-explanatory word - without gender - and the flag is commonly-known. It's not exactly the same as "genderless", because we often hear "agender" used in combinations with identities or modalities, like "agender man" or "agender feminine", whereas this is less common with the word "genderless".
If we use "agender" in connection with "demiguy", we feel that that communicates something like "man but in a non-binary way" or "man but different", which is what we intend to convey.
"Agender", for us, somewhat serves as a way to describe a disconnect from binary gender, while also potentially describing the capacity for connection to it when used in conjunction with other words. Identities like "agender man" and "agender androgynous" are common throughout the system, and if someone in the system is genderqueer but doesn't know in what way, they will normally default to agender.
