"Agedre" is short for "age dreamer", and an age dreamer is like an age regressor, but they don't feel they mentally become a child.

For those who may not know, age regression is a state in which somebody takes on the mental state of a child and feels and usually acts more childlike. This can occur as a trauma response, but many people do it for fun and voluntarily age regress while doing things like watching children's shows, looking at nostalgic or childlike aesthetics, eating foods from their childhoods, etc.

Age dreaming, then, is a community term for enjoying and engaging with the kinds of things that age regressors do, but the regression part is absent. Age dreamers do not feel that they mentally become children or take on a different mental state from their typical adult self.

Our system likes children's movies, like Disney or Don Bluth films, but also children's books like The Chronicles of Narnia and A Wrinkle in Time. We also like plushes and toys, the former of which we actively collect. Many members of the system enjoy cutesy or nostalgic aesthetics, and we all believe in keeping some of the magic and whimsy of childhood alive even when you're an adult.

Part of how we discovered we were an age dreamer was because of Troy. He IS an age regressor, and we would often do nostalgic activities with him like watch children's movies or eat Lunchables. He had an abusive and neglectful childhood in which he didn't get to do too many age appropriate activities or watch children's movies, which is why he is an age regressor now.

When we imagine Troy doing things like watching children's movies, we're actually doing those things in the outerworld "with" him. While we're doing them as his caregiver and not as the regressor, we found we personally enjoyed a lot of the movies we were watching and would watch them on our own, but in a different way than Troy enjoys them when he's regressed.

Our appreciation for children's media is from a lens of media analysis as well as nostalgia. We like seeing how children's media tells stories, how it conveys messages and what messages it conveys, and (when applicable) how it manages adaptations. We also like a lot of animated movies because of the art in it, as we are also a cartoon artist.

Kino wrote this blog post talking more about how we discovered we were an age dreamer. While some members of our system are actually age regressors as well and do feel that they mentally become children sometimes, most of us aren't, and the age regressors aren't very prominent fronters. Meanwhile, enjoyment of children's media is, post-Unification, a systemwide trait.
