Xenicplex

Xenicplex is when an entire system is affected by a xenic identity. Xenic is a term for someone whose gender is aligned towards something that is outside the gender binary, or who is xenogender-aligned.

While our system is a man and is man-aligned, we are xenogender and xenogender-aligned too, at the same time. This tendency towards xenogender identity seems to affect the whole system, as many headmates who might seemingly otherwise be binary men or women consider their genders to relate to their kintypes, concepts that are important to them, aesthetics they resonate or present with, non-gender aspects of their identity (e.g. orientation or neurotype), music that represents them, or similar things.

They usually identify as xenogender, xenic, or xenine (where xenine is the xenogender equivalent of a word like "masculine" or "feminine"). This usually means they feel that the way they present their gender includes things that are not typically seen as a part of gendered presentation in mainstream society. For example, we see wearing black lipstick as xenine because it is not really considered "typical" for either men or women to wear, and it usually signifies belonging to alt subcultures more than it does gender. Alt is one of many things that can be the subject of one's xenogender (and that many of our headmates have xenogenders about), hence black lipstick is xenine to us.

We also consider use of neopronouns to be part of xenine presentation, especially nounself, emojiself, or unicodeself pronouns, the last of which are especially popular in my system. Most of our collective pronouns are neopronouns, and neopronouns are widely used by the system, including those who identify as binary genders. Part of why they do this is to signify that they are not strictly aligned to the binary gender they consider themselves.

While presenting as a gender is not necessarily the same thing as identifying as a gender, our presentation as xenine affects the whole system, and we still consider our gender to be aligned to things that are not typically thought of as genders by society. Seeing as a binary man, while being the way we would prefer to be simplified if we had to be, is not the full story.
