Functions explanation
Our system finds it useful to use a lot of recently-coined terms to describe different systems' functions, e.g. terms to describe that BPD affects an entire part of the system, terms to describe that everyone in part of the system identifies as something, etc.
Here is a guide to what some of these terms mean:
✧ -based: a system that is influenced by something without necessarily being formed by it
✧ -orma: an individual headmate who was formed by something
✧ -plex: a system where every member of the system is affected by something, not necessarily in the same way
✧ -impacted: a system where every member of the system is affected by something, all in the same way
✧ -dawn: a subsystem or sidesystem that originated from something
✧ -plurid: a collective identity held by a system (e.g. collectively being gay)
✧ -roleic: something that affects your role in the system without NECESSARILY being the role in and of itself (often is the role though)
Here is an example of what those terms would be like with "roleplay" as a theme:
✧ roleplaybased: a system that is based in roleplay - e.g. influenced by it heavily - without necessarily having originated from it (headmates who roleplay often, getting introjects from roleplays, fronting while roleplaying, etc.)
✧ roleplayorma: a headmate who was formed by roleplay (introject of a roleplay character, formed while roleplaying, formed for the purpose of roleplaying, etc.)
✧ roleplayplex: a system where every headmate is affected by roleplay, not necessarily in the same way (e.g. a sidesystem with a story affected by roleplay but where not all headmates are roleplayers themselves, a system whose involvement in roleplay affects their whole social life, etc.)
✧ roleplayimpacted: a system where every headmate is affected by roleplay in the same way (e.g. a subsystem of somebody's roleplay personas, a sidesystem of roleplay introjects with the same level of connection to roleplaying itself, etc.)
✧ roleplaydawn: a sidesystem that originated from roleplay (e.g. a subsystem of facets that formed to compartmentalize roleplays, a narrative from a roleplay being introjected into a sidesystem, etc.)
✧ roleplayplurid: a system that collectively considers themself a roleplayer (e.g. they roleplay online and it's important to them, but not all headmates participate)
✧ roleplayroleic: a headmate whose role has to do with roleplay in some way (e.g. their role is to roleplay, they cope with their trauma with roleplay, etc.
Where it comes to our use of these terms, we generally use them to refer to not just the whole system but also parts of the system, e.g. superclusters, sidesystems, and layers. While we tend not to use "-dawn" for sidesystems, prefering "-genic" for them (mostly because, in our early history, it's hard to distinguish the creation of some sidesystems from the creation of entire superclusters), we sometimes use it for parts of the system that are of more recent origin, i.e. after we fully knew we were plural.
