Fleck

Fleck was the first alter we split after it was confirmed that we were moving to Northern California, and the alter who seemed to confirm a pattern our system has: Whenever a major development occurs that completely changes the nature of what we are doing in life, or our relationship to what we are doing in life, we split a Ford Prefect fictive about it.

This version of Ford Prefect was born as a human in a small town in Texas in 1950 and began hitchhiking to different parts of America in the 1960s, moving to Southern California with Zaphod in 1974 and to Northern California with Arthur in 1980.

His role largely has to do with managing our feelings about our major move. In particular, he is glad that we have left the place we grew up, and he is happy about the things we can do differently now, but he has some concerns about what life will be like for us. He will likely help us navigate those concerns when and if they actually come up.

He fantasizes about romance more than any headmate in the system does, and he sometimes has romantic feelings out of nowhere that are not directed at anybody. We are unaware of a name for this system role, but we consider it akin to the romantic equivalent of a sexual headmate.
